What a fun week in the SEO space – we had Google do some explaining or myth busting around the March 2019 core algorithm update, no – it wasn’t a reversal. Google just noticed that they have not supported the rel=next/prev markup for years now, but their advice has not changed they say. Bing still uses rel=next/prev the original way they did, for discovery but not for merging pages into sets. Google explained what is neural matching, how they use it and how it differs from RankBrain. Google published their annual web spam report, some interested stats in there you don’t want to miss. Google Search Console now supports removing of Sitemaps, opening them in a new tab and much more. Google is asking what SEOs and developers what they want in the Search Console API. Google posted a video on how to debug and test your JavaScript pages with search and SEO. Google said there is no such thing as an organic traffic budget. Google is trying out expandable knowledge panels. Google seems to be showing more video thumbnails in search. Google updated the UI for their Q&A in the search results. Google Ads now recommends columns to advertisers. And did you see Gary Illyes video bomb John Mueller this week? That was this past week in search at the Search Engine Roundtable.
