Many people think Google is able to predict the future now, based on how much data they have and their AI work. But here is an example of Google showing a date snippet a couple weeks in the future from today, in their search results. A search for [may 2018 ps plus games] returns a snippet that has the date May 5, 2018.
May 5, 2018, in case you didn’t know, has not arrived yet, it is 10 days from now. Here is a screen shot:
Gary Hainsworth spotted this and posted it on Twitter.
How does this happen? Well, the query is looking for [may] and the content is actually dated correctly, showing a date of April 23, 2018. But the content of the article mentions a specific “offer ends on the May 5, 2018,” which is why Google is showing that date in the search results.
This might not be a date snippet anyway, it might just be some other form of snippet.
You’d think Google’s date snippet code would weed out dates in the future?
