Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.
Search Engine Roundtable Stories:
- Google: Certifying Content It Still Valid Is Good, But Not Date Update Worthy
Google’s John Mueller said it is great to go through old content and make sure it is still valid and accurate. But doing so doesn’t mean that you should update the date of the content to the date you reviewed it. If you want to inform the users who are reading the content that the content is still valid, maybe add a note to the content John said. - Google My Business Adds Veteran Led Attribute / Icon
Google has added a new attribute for businesses that are veteran led. It is pretty easy to get the label on your Google My Business listing, you just go to your account, click on the “info” tab and click edit on the “attributes” section. - Google Judges All Content On Your Pages, Be It Written By You Or Others
Google’s John Mueller said again that any type of bad content on your site, be it content you write yourself or content published by users – i.e. user generated content, can be used to judge your site. He said the content displayed is what Google uses “for your website’s crawling, indexing, and ranking.” - Google Posts Tests Without Google Local Knowledge Panel
Normally, you would see Google Posts show up in or near a local knowledge panel when you search for the business by name. Brodie Clark spotted Google testing showing a Google Posts without any local knowledge panel. Was it a bug or a test – I do not know. - Google Dr. Seuss Room
Here is a room at Google’s Los Angles office in a Dr. Seuss theme. Many of the conference rooms are named after Dr. Seuss books. This photo was posted Instagram.
