Daily Search Forum Recap: June 28, 2019

Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

  • Potential Google Search Ranking Algorithm Update On June 27th
    I am seeing chatter within the SEO community throughout the past 24 hours and many of the automated Google tracking tools seem to be corroborating with that chatter that there may have been a Google update yesterday. Now, Google has not confirmed this update – so it is likely not a core update but might be something else going on.
  • Google Might Be Testing A Text Based Button In Its Search Box
    Google might be testing, or it might be a bug, or some browser issue, I am not 100% sure, a text based search button in its search box. So instead of the magnifying glass in the search box, there is a text based button or link that says “Search.”
  • Google: Site Migrations Can Take About A Day If Done Correctly
    John Mueller of Google was asked about doing site migrations and if it can impact your SEO. The short answer is that it can impact your SEO but if you do everything correctly it can be a matter of days until everything is back to where it was prior to the migration. But that is a big “if” – if you do it correctly.
  • Google Confirms GoogleBot Does Not Support HTTP Pipelining
    Gary Illyes from Google confirmed yesterday that GoogleBot does not support HTTP pipelining. The truth is, most modern browsers don’t support it either by default. HTTP pipelining is a technique in which multiple HTTP requests are sent on a single TCP (transmission control protocol) connection without waiting for the corresponding responses.
  • Google SEO Mythbusting Video On SEO Challenges With Web Frameworks
    Google’s Martin Splitt and Jason Miller, a Senior Web Developer Programs Engineer at Google, got together to create a video on the challenges around using web frameworks and how that may impact your SEO efforts.
  • Snoopy On Google Bike
