Eight Subreddits Every Marketer Should Follow

When most marketers think about Reddit, they view it as if it is a thing that shall not be named. Marketers have proclaimed time and time again that Reddit is a tough network to crack, and one that marketers can essentially ignore.

But you will be surprised by how popular it is.

In the United States, 26.4 million people are using Reddit each month.

That’s massive!

And now it is reporting as many users as Twitter. Reddit’s data shows that monthly active users had grown from 250 million in 2017 to 330 million in 2018.

Do you want to know who is influencing your audience? Do you want to know how to create better content for your audience? Do you want to stay in the know as it relates to the latest trends and insights?

Following the right subreddits can help you accomplish all of these goals.

What is a Subreddit?

A subreddit is a forum or thread within Reddit that allows users to focus on a specific interest or topic.

Subreddits are the backbone of the entire Reddit community, and the conversations range from comics and BBQ to world news and Bitcoin. Practically any topic you can think of has been or is being discussed somewhere on Reddit.

Over the years, I have watched brands leverage insights they gathered from Reddit to achieve marketing success. As a marketer, I have used Reddit many times as both a tool for inspiration, collaboration and distribution. Now before we get to the top Subreddits, it is essential that you understand how Reddit marketing works. Here is a quick take on Reddit Marketing:

Now that we have that out of the way let’s discuss the Subreddits that EVERY marketer needs to join. Here areeight subreddits that every marketer should know about and subscribe to:

/r/Marketing (188,000+ subscribers)

This should be an obvious one.

I wouldn’t say it is filled with game-changing information, but there are many members of this subreddit that you could learn a thing or two from around communications. One challenge with this subreddit is the constant flood of self-promotion and users pushing their own content.

That said, once in a while, you will come across some golden resources like this Social Media Sizing cheat sheet. And always look at the top posts for useful information.
