Google Updates Ad Settings: You Turn Off Personalized Ads

Google announced they have updated your ad settings page to enable you to turn off personalized ads and/or see and remove the information Google has on you around personalizing those ads. “The new Ad Settings shows all the different factors that determine how ads are tailored to you in one view. This way, it’s easier for you to see them at a glance, learn more about why you see ads related to these topics, and decide if there are any you want to remove,” Google wrote.

This must be a GDPR related change but hey – we will take it.

These personalized ads are used on Google services such as Google Search or YouTube as well as websites and apps that partner with Google to show ads (i.e. AdSense ads, etc).

Here is a GIF of those controls:

It is interesting what Google thinks they know about me. I suspect all my searches for weird things has confused them about me over the years. I am a fan of Australian Football for some reason, I like Bed Bath and Beyond (I think I was in the store once in my lifetime), I’ve never played or watched Rugby, performance arts is something I am so not into it is funny.
