Google Search Console Change Of Address Tool Not Working

I am hearing reports of the change of address tool in Google Search Console is not working. I personally did not try it, it is one of those things that you don’t want to play around with, but Tom Brodbeck shared a screen shot of it not working.

Since May 2nd he has been complaining that the tool just spins and spins and doesn’t end up doing anything. He posted this on Twitter and has yet to hear back on a fix. John Mueller from Google said he would “pass it on to the team.” But that was 4 days ago and still nothing.

It is a feature only available right now in the old Search Console, not the new one. So it isn’t clear if Google will spend time fixing bugs in the older version versus migrate or remove features they no longer want to support in the new Google Search Console.

You can learn more about the change of address tool over here – but it is one of the few features not yet migrated to the new Search Console.
